FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
Q.
Why do you ask so many medical questions
when I am only here for dental treatment?
A.
A thorough medical history is taken
initially, updated every visit and reviewed every six months in our office for
several important reasons. Local anesthetics, prescription medications,
long procedures, pain or anxiety can induce medical emergencies in patients who
have existing systemic diseases. In order to deliver safe care, it is
imperative that our patients answer the medical history carefully and
accurately. In addition, the relationship of periodontal (gum) disease and
general diseases has been greatly demonstrated in the latest research studies.
Untreated, poor oral health can increase the risk of developing a life
threatening disease.
Q.
I am considering dental implants. Can
I get my work done at your office?
A.
While we do not perform the implant in our
office, Dr. Rosenbaum works closely with the implant specialist to finish the
restoration after the implant surgery. In fact, Dr. Rosenbaum does the
treatment plan and arranges and sets up the referral to a specialist.
Q.
As a new patient, why do I need an
examination (x-rays) before I can schedule a hygiene appointment?
A.
It is a Nevada state law that all hygiene
patients first receive an examination by a dentist and become a patient of
record to receive hygiene therapy. In fact, an examination is required
every eighteen months. A Comprehensive exam includes a complete medical history
to alert the dental team to medical problems before hygiene therapy. X-rays are
part of a comprehensive examination and a recall examination. They are a
diagnostic tool to identify bone loss, periodontal problems, decay, impacted
teeth and bone concerns.
Q.
Do you do laser bleaching? If not, why not?
A. We
offer several types of bleach in our office - home strips (professional
strength) and customized bleaching trays with individualized concentration of
bleach depending on sensitivity. Laser bleaching is not performed in our
office. We believe there is less chance of serious side effects and
cosmetically great results with the other two methods.
Q. Are
you a provider?
A.
Dr. Rosenbaum believes strongly that our
patients deserve the highest quality of dental care and that patients are free
to choose their own dentist. Therefore, profit oriented dental insurance
companies do not dictate our patient treatment plans, or our fees. It is
for these reasons that our office does not participate in any insurance plan as
a provider.
Q.
Do you accept insurance?
A. Our
office works with most insurance companies to maximize your benefits to meet
your dental needs. We can submit your insurance claim for you. As a
new patient, payment in full is required. Please remember to bring your
insurance card.
